Navigation Scheme for Young Persons in Care Services

Graduation Ceremony for the 10th & 11th Class & Opening Ceremony for the 15th Class of “Navigation Scheme for Young Persons in Care Services”, organized by Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies (APIAS), Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE) and Haven of Hope Christian Service (HOHCS), were held successfully on 21 October 2023 at Lingnan University.

Officiating guests including Prof. Dickson Chan, Director of APIAS and Ms. Chan Pui Ching, President of Haven of Hope Professional Training Institute, attended the ceremony and presented awards. After 2 years of study, there were 50 graduates and 6 of them obtained Excellent Student Awards. They were nominated by institute to further articulate to Enrolled Nurse (EN) and Registered Nurse (RN) Courses.

The "Navigation Scheme for Young Persons in Care Services" offers onsite training opportunities to young people who aim at joining the nursing profession, in the form of "hire first, train later". Participants are assigned to elderly or rehabilitation service units to take up nursing work, while being fully subsidized to study the two-year Certificate in Nursing Care for Elderly and Persons with Disabilities (Part-time) and Professional Diploma in Health and Social Services(Part-time) offered by Lingnan University. Since the launch, there were more than 200 students graduated from the program. Graduates can apply for nursing or management programs (such as EN/ RN programs) with the qualification they obtained, or apply for healthcare worker or other related positions at HOHCS or other organizations.
