President Qin encourages the graduates to embody Lingnan University’s motto of ‘Education for Service’ and celebrate their accomplishments.

The School of Graduate Studies Graduation Dinner 2024 was held on 10 May 2024 at Nina Hotel, Tsuen Wan West, where over 240 graduating students gathered with 80 guests, professors, and staff to celebrate their completion of postgraduate studies at Lingnan University.

 

Prof Sam Kwong Tak-wu, Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research) and Acting Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, delivered a heartfelt welcoming address to congratulate the graduates. Prof S. Joe Qin, President of Lingnan University, followed to deliver the President’s address. President Qin encouraged the graduates to embody Lingnan University’s motto of “Education for Service” and celebrate their accomplishments. He also motivated them to embrace new endeavours and continue to strive for excellence in the future.

The event also featured sharing by alumni and student representatives. Chairman of Lingnan University Postgraduate Alumni Association (LUPAA), Mr Chris Xia, introduced the association as a channel to stay connected with fellow graduates and join a wide variety of activities. Student representatives from Doctor of Policy Studies (Wang Zhen) and MSocSc in Organisational Psychology and Education Management (Krystal Liu Hongyun & George Lin Yun) expressed their gratitude on the support and opportunities provided by the School of Graduate Studies as well as Lingnan University during their studies.

 

The dinner was graced with toasting by the University management and guests on stage. The night was then led to its climax with wonderful student performances and exciting lucky draw. Sunflowers were presented to teaching staff during the performance to symbolise the graduates’ gratitude and appreciation for their unwavering dedication, hard work, and mentorship.

 

Liu Shuting (Alumna of Master of Social Sciences in Organisational Psychology and Education Management) and Mwaba Moono Chipili (Student of Research Postgraduate Programme) performed Boundless Sea and Sky to inspire the graduates to have courage and faith against the uncertainty of future and challenges in life. The memorable night was concluded with a class photo session.
