The Dinner for Graduating Students 2024 at the New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel on 22 May was a resounding success. This year, there were 44 tables for over 500 welcome guests, including Council and Court Members, the President and University senior management, the Lingnan Education Organization, and representatives of our alumni, professors, and graduating students. The graduating students were joyously celebrated and received the best wishes of all attendees.

Mr Augustine Wong Ho-ming, JP, Deputy Chairman of the Council, and Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science of Lingnan University, encouraged the graduating students to always remember our motto "Education for Service", and let the red-grey spirit flow in their veins. They also urged them to maintain a strong connection with Lingnan.

During the evening, a special event called “Passing the Torch” featured Deputy Council Chairman Mr Wong, President S. Joe Qin, Chairman of the Court Dr Patrick Wong Chi-kwong, and Chairman of Lingnan Education Organization Mr Augustine Lui Ngok-che. They were joined by two graduating student representatives Ms Sonia Leung (BLA in Global Development and Sustainability) and Mr Stephen Gao (BA in History) in lighting the torch to uphold and embrace the Lingnan spirit for life.
 

Two graduate representatives, Mr Eddie Chan (BLA in Global Development and Sustainability) and Ms Cherry Zhao (MSc in Marketing and International Business) delivered graduation speeches expressing their gratitude for the tremendous encouragement and support they have received from the University and professors. Besides, three groups of students performed dynamic songs and dances, adding to the festive atmosphere of the evening.

There was also a Best Dress Award with the theme “Bling Bling”, which made the night even more fun. Many of the guests and students embraced the theme with enthusiasm, and their sparkling outfits added a glamorous ambiance to the event!
